An estimated 98,000 fishermen died in Indonesia. The massive wave destroyed 7,500 boats and most of area’s fish farms and shrimp hatcheries. Replacing boats and fishing supplies is vital to economic recovery, providing thousands of local families with jobs. Boat rebuilding is a labourious process, requiring several weeks or months to construct just one seaworthy vessel properly.
