The stigma that prevents talk about AIDS has often kept political leaders quiet. To defeat the virus, politicians worldwide need to speak frankly and passionately. Dr. Kenneth Kaunda, former president of Zambia, was heartbroken when his son died of AIDS in 1996. He has been a vocal promoter of AIDS awareness ever since. "We need help. We're not going to ask anyone to do the job for us, but we need help."
