Ishaq Ali, a peanut farmer, tends his crop in Lamgriheu, along the northwest tip of Sumatra Island. The field, set up by World Vision, is several hundred metres from the Indian Ocean. Much of the fertile coastal croplands were scraped away by the force of the tsunami or polluted with salt water. Aid agencies are working with farmers, providing fresh water to rinse the land, and seeds and tools to restart agricultural production.
