When Toronto and Amsterdam decided to become Twin Cities in 1972, a special relationship began that has blossomed over the years into a real friendship.

Every year, the Dutch people celebrate their queen’s birthday with a giant party. In 2000, 10 PhotoSensitive photographers were invited to join in the fun as all of Holland took to the streets intent on having a ball.

The result is another exciting exhibition of black-and-white photographs by the Toronto collective that brings all that joy and good humour back to Toronto but also in line with PhotoSensitive's more serious ideal of social change.

Part of Contact 2001 – Toronto’s month long celebration of photography – the show is sponsored by the Consulate General of the Netherlands and the Netherlands Tourist Board.

"We speak of a place as a student town, an artists' haven, a magnet for scholars, a working-class city. Each of these labels fits today's Amsterdam, but none of them alone describes it."
